If you’re visiting from SITS Girls, welcome!
If you’re not sure what this means, let me explain.
SITS Girls is a fantastic, supportive, and useful blogging community of 40,000 women. They have amazing resources. You can always learn something new there, whether you’re a brand new or an experienced blogger.
If you’re coming from SITS Girls, let me introduce myself. I’m a former teacher who just finished her doctoral studies in educational policy. I write about parenting, sometimes education, but a lot about how to survive and be happy during new motherhood. I have a toddler son and live in western New York.
With another blogging friend, Stephanie Sprenger of Mommy, For Real, I also partner on a collaborative blogging project about female friendship called The HerStories Project. We collect women’s stories of friendship throughout their lives, but particularly during motherhood. We’ve gotten some terrific writers to participate, and we’re also surveying women about their experiences during new motherhood. We’d love to hear your thoughts and stories! And you’re invited to take our survey…
Here are a few recent posts that you might check out:

Once again, welcome! I can’t wait to “meet” all of you!
Congrats on your SITS Day. And on finishing your doctoral studies – that is huge!
The HerStories project sounds awesome. I’m going to check it out.

Happy SITS day! Great blog!! I read “Why I’m Putting Down My iPhone” and I admit I am totally guilty. 🙁 I never thought about it from the perspective of my kids watching me and mimicking my actions especially at their current ages but I will definitely have to monitor my use and make sure they don’t feel the device is more important! Thanks for sharing such thought provoking posts on parenting!

Happy SITS Day! I loved your post about putting down the iPhone. I’m thrilled to live in this time of technology when we have the answer to any question in the palm of our hand. But it is also important for children to know they can do “research” by talking to people, asking questions, digging in the dirt, and stretching their imagination. I could benefit from putting down my iPhone, too. Thanks for the thoughtful piece.

Yes, I agree. And I think most teachers would say this too. The internet is only one way to find answers, and often times not the best way!

So many great things to read here! I can’t wait to check them out and take the survey. Congrats on being featured! Happy SITS Day! I realized I needed to put the iPhone down when my son asked me to put the phone away (he’s 3!). I try to leave it to nap time and after bedtime but that’s really hard. Just something I am working on. Great post!

Happy SITS day! About to go take a look at that survey. Friendship through parenting is so not what I expected. Not in a bad way. It’s just that I didn’t realize how little I would be able to keep in touch.
It’s impossible to predict how much your life will change, even your friendships, after you have a kid. Thanks for taking the survey!

Happy SITS Day, Jessica – and congratulations on completing your doctorate! My daughter will be starting pharmacy school in the fall, so in four more years, she should have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree – not the same as a doctorate, but both require a lot of work. Hats off to your accomplishments!!

Oh, it’s definitely the same! Just in a different field. Mine is a doctorate in education (so not exactly the same as a PhD either).
