Meet Jessica Smock

The purpose of this site is to discuss new research about how kids and schools can succeed in educating all kids, and how parents can help them (without losing their minds or without wasting their time on the parenting or educational fad of the moment).

Yes, I am a stay-at-home mom.  Yes, I will be writing mostly about kids.  But even if your eyes glaze over at the mention of  a “mommy blog,” don’t necessarily click away.

I was a teacher and curriculum coordinator for more than a decade in private and public schools in the Boston area.  I’ve also been a journalist, writer, and a research fellow or assistant for several other projects.  Now I’m a doctoral student in education policy and about to finish my dissertation.  And I also change a lot of diapers and can sing 30 verses to “The Wheels on the Bus.”

You can read a longer version of my bio if you are so inclined.

  1. Jessica: I just tweet your excellent guest post on the transition to daycare. Congratulations on your blog. Terrific! Just saw that you commented on Elizabeth Banks’s comment…going to read it next.
